Women's Leadership Network embarked on an enlightening excursion to Port Jefferson. The day was marked by a series of engaging activities and insightful interactions, spearheaded by Barbara Ransome, the Vice Director of Operations of the Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce. Barbara's exceptional hospitality set the tone for an informative and enjoyable day.

Our journey began with a comprehensive tour of Port Jefferson, where Barbara provided an in-depth look into the town's economic landscape and the vital role the Chamber of Commerce plays in supporting local businesses. The tour offered us a unique opportunity to meet and converse with some of the business owners, gaining first-hand insight into their experiences and the community’s dynamic post-COVID recovery.

The primary purpose of this trip was to lay the groundwork for an upcoming Women's Leadership Day in Port Jefferson. Planning such an event requires thorough preparation, and our leadership committee found it essential to venture across the Long Island Sound to experience Port Jefferson’s environment and activities first-hand. The town, much like many others, is navigating the path of recovery from the pandemic, but in doing so, they have initiated some remarkable projects that reflect their resilience and innovative spirit.

Beyond event planning, this trip underscored the importance of understanding and engaging with our surrounding communities. By learning about the initiatives and developments in Port Jefferson, we can foster collaboration and promote mutual growth. This inter-community engagement is crucial for creating new experiences for BRBC members and enhancing our network’s value proposition.

Our visit to Port Jefferson was not just about preparing for an event; it was about building bridges with a community across the Long Island Sound. These connections open doors for commerce, networking, and shared growth, presenting an empowering opportunity for all involved.

We are excited to announce that our Women's Leadership Port Jefferson Day will feature a range of activities, including a scavenger hunt, a detailed tour, a delightful lunch, some shopping, and ample opportunities to connect with each other while learning about another vibrant community.

Stay tuned for more details, and we look forward to sharing this enriching experience with you!
