Government 101!
Last week our state legislature convened for its every-other-year “short session” which is scheduled to last this year until early May. For to many of us who tend to be immersed in the challenge of running our own businesses, it remains something of a mystery how our part-time legislature conducts its law-making business. And yet, there is much at stake as new laws can have a major impact on our business.
Our Government Relations Committee decided recently that we should offer our members a real insider’s view of how our state legislature functions, and we have assembled a real “Who’s Who” group of individuals who constitute the speakers for our Government 101 Seminar.
The seminar is this Friday morning February 16 (breakfast to mid-day) at the Bridgeport Holiday Inn and features elected state representatives from both parties, lobbyists and local business leaders who have proven adept at working with our legislature. Here’s our all-star cast:

People’s United Bank Business After Hours!
Last year at this time, I was new to my role as BRBC CEO, but one thing I knew for sure: the biggest Business After Hours was always in February in the huge lobby of People’s United Bank headquarters in Bridgeport. This year will be no exception. You need to register now for this February 21 event (from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM).
