In a recent meeting, the Trumbull community came together to envision a vibrant future for the Trumbull Mall, acknowledging its pivotal role as a regional asset in Greater Bridgeport. Dan Onofrio, the Bridgeport Regional Business Council CEO, shed light on the transformative journey the mall is embarking upon.
The mall, like many across the nation, faces the evolving landscape of retail and changing consumer habits. Over a year ago, the town of Trumbull embarked on a comprehensive study to explore the best and most sustainable future for the property. Through community-driven conversations and consultations with experts like Stantec, the town gathered valuable insights into the desires and needs of its residents.
What emerged from these discussions is not merely a plan to revitalize a mall, but a vision to create a dynamic district within Trumbull. This shift in perspective reframes the property as an opportunity for community engagement and economic growth, extending beyond retail to encompass housing, recreation, and more.
But the vision doesn't stop there. With acres of underutilized parking space, there's room for recreational amenities like pickleball courts and walking trails, fostering a sense of community and wellness. The aim is to create not just a shopping destination, but a vibrant hub where people can live, work, and play.
