The cost of health care in our country has been rising rapidly and one of the results of that rapid rise has been the effect that it has had on the cost of doing business. That is one of the reasons that our national, state and local business community has become much more engaged in the issue of health care reform.
The Bridgeport Regional Business Council, as a result of a Board of Directors strategic planning process, has established a Health Care Work Council. Through the work of the Council, the BRBC Board of Directors adopted a set of principles by which our work on health care reform is guided:

Healthcare coverage should be universal;

Healthcare coverage should be continuous;

Healthcare coverage should be affordable to individuals and families

Health insurance strategy should be affordable and sustainable for society;

Health insurance should enhance health and well-being by promoting access to high quality care that is effective, efficient, safe, timely, patient centered, and equitable.
