Education

The efficiency study of the Bridgeport Public School system has been completed!  Read the full study and meet the members of the BRBC's Education Coalition.

The Board of Directors of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council in reviewing its work and role over the years at “acting to create an environment for jobs and tax base growth” within the City of Bridgeport, has concluded that such an environment was, in fact, successfully being achieved. As a result of this success, the Board concluded that one of the things that needed to happen in Bridgeport, and the region, in order to be more fully prepared for that success – job growth – was to improve the quality of education here in order to better prepare the emerging workforce for the new jobs that would be developed in the region.

As a result, the Board concluded that the area in which we could be most helpful initially was to improve financial accountability and transparency and improve operational efficiency and management within the Bridgeport school system. By doing so, we would then be able to invest greater resources into the classroom to improve educational outcomes and thereby, over time, have a better prepared workforce.

As a result the Bridgeport Regional Business Council has started by working with the City of Bridgeport and the Bridgeport Board of Education on an accountability and transparency initiative through the work of our Education Work Council.
